Gustavo "yel" Knittel led his side to a one-sided victory over Sharks to claim a first-place finish in the Tribo to Major.
BOOM have emerged victorious from the Tribo to Major, the latest Regional Major Ranking (RMR) event in South America that saw Isurus, BOOM, and Sharks all contending with yel's men, who now hold a considerable lead, in hopes of moving up the RMR standings. However, with the ESL One Rio Major delayed indefinitely, BOOM's victory in the Tribo to Major does not guarantee them a spot in the main event as more RMR events are set to unfold in the future.
BOOM continued to be the dominant force in South America as they eased through the group stage without dropping a series, with only Isurus managing to take a map victory off of João "felps" Vasconcellos and company early on. A dominant victory over RED Canids in the semi-finals set BOOM up against Sharks in the grand final, with Luca "Luken" Nadotti's side having dispatched of Isurus en route to the final match-up.
Unfortunately for Sharks, their second attempt at taking on BOOM went almost as poorly as their group stage effort. A spectacular 2.08 rated map from yel saw BOOM make short work of Sharks on Vertigo, running up a 13-2 lead on the offense before bringing the map to a swift end shortly into the second half.
Dust2 was a more competitive affair as both teams remained neck-and-neck at the break, but it was the BOOM show once again following the side swap as yel and company only conceded two rounds before claiming a series victory.
